Think About This.. author unknown

Think about this for a minute....
Do you know what the relationship is between your two eyes?
They blink together,
they move together,
they cry together,
they see things together,
and they sleep together,
but they never see each other;
....that's what friendship is.
Your aspiration is your motivation, your
motivation is your belief,
your belief is your peace,
your peace is your target,
your target is heaven,
and life is like hard core torture without it!

Friendship and Getting Older-author unknown

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.?

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.

They, too, will get old. I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.?

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore... I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become.. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be.. And I shall eat dessert every single day(if I feel like it).
?

MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART!
MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE A RAINBOW OF SMILES ON YOUR FACE AND IN YOUR HEART FOREVER AND EVER! FRIENDS FOREVER!

George Strait -Artist of the Decade

Last night I sat in awe for two hours watching the tribute to George Strait who was given the Artist of the Decade Torch.  The artists ahead of him were: Marty Robbins for the 70s, Loretta Lynn for the 80s, Garth Brooks for the 90s and now George Strait.

Every one of the country music artists who sang one of George's songs had something to say as to how George had influenced their lives and everyone did such a great job.  I laughed when he said, "I'm sure glad I got those songs first!"

George has had 57 top hits in his lifetime.  I have his CD from the first 50.

Now, one doesn't have to be a country music fan to appreciate all that talent in one room on one stage..  And at the end, he had everyone come back up and sing along with him.

It isn't often, that I sit for any length of time and listen to something like that in its entirety.  I am usually in and out of the room etc.  But last night, I sat enthralled.

Here's to George Strait and his wife, Norma and all the folks/fans who have contributed to his career in Country Music. You know his first thank you was to God for giving him a voice to sing, then he thanked his fans and his wife and son.  I think that's part of what has made his career so special.  He hasn't forgotten what has made his career what it is:  God, Fans, family.

Little Johnny the Baptist -author unknown

Matt. 18:4-5

"Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest

in the kingdom of heaven.   And who ever welcomes a little child

like this in my name welcomes me."

Johnny's mother looked out the window and noticed Him "playing church" with their cat.  He had the cat sitting quietly and he was preaching to it.  She smiled and went about her work.  A while later

she heard loud meowing and hissing and ran back to the open

window to see Johnny baptizing the cat in a tub of water.  She

called out, "Johnny, stop that!  The cat is afraid of water!"  Johnny

looked up at her and said, "He should have thought about that

before he joined my church."
